Dr. David Schanzlin is a board-certified ophthalmologist with over 30 years of experience in refractive surgery. Dr. Schanzlin currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer for Refocus Group.
Dr. Schanzlin earned his Medical Degree and completed his residency at the University of Chicago. He served as Chief Resident in Ophthalmology and went on to complete fellowships at the University of California and the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Schanzlin specializes in corneal, cataract, and keratorefractive surgery. In addition to treating patients in San Diego, Dr. Schanzlin is also dedicated to advancing the practice of ophthalmology through innovation and education. He has served as a clinical investigator for several new technologies, and he has Professor of Ophthalmology (Emeritus) from the University of California, San Diego. He lectures around the world and has an active clinical practice at Gordon Schanzlin New Vision Institute in San Diego
